An accountability court judge on Monday rejected Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s request seeking acquittal in the SGS and Cotecna references filed against him in 1997.
The accountability court has already acquitted Zardari in three corruption references.
Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir said that there are certain evidences in Zardari’s application which cannot be entertained. He summoned the witnesses in the case on January 8, 2015 and adjourned hearing.
Zardari had been summoned before the court in five references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) but he did not appear due to security reasons and the presidential immunity which he enjoyed during his tenure.
The cases were later reopened in October 2013 when NAB pleaded that the immunity had ended after completion of his presidential tenure.
Those who plundered and looted Pakistani wealth are also terrorists. They must be hanged with other terrorists. How a man who used to black cinema tickets became billionaire? All crooks and national thieves must be punished. Other than Imran Khan all Pakistani politicians are involved in money laundering and stealing national wealth. They can not lead Pakistani nation to its destiny.
