A decisive war has been waged against terrorists, which would continue till complete elimination of terrorism from the country, said Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Monday while chairing a high level meeting which discussed various proposals for making security arrangements foolproof and took some important decisions.
The chief minister said officers and jawans of Pakistan Army, police as well as citizens had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism, while more than 40,000 Pakistanis had lost their lives, which was unprecedented in the history.
“Victory is the only option in the war against terrorism and this war will be won at any cost to save Pakistan,” he said.
Pakistan had the best trained army of the world, which was fully capable to deal with internal and external challenges and would defeat the enemies with the support of the nation.
Shahbaz said that a safe and peaceful Pakistan would be given to the new generation through eliminating terrorism and this mission would be achieved with determination and national spirit.
He directed that all institutions concerned should perform their duties with the best coordination and spare no effort for the protection of life and property of citizens as the present situation demanded extraordinary measures.
However, he also issued instructions for setting up joint sub-committees for ensuring close coordination among institutions.
Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Naveed Zaman said that cooperation would be continued with the government and police regarding the measures against terrorism as it was the war for survival of Pakistan and collective efforts were needed.
