Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar M Khan Saturday said that the doors of international cricket would start to open after the tour of Kenya team.
Talking to journalists at the Gaddafi Stadium after the conclusion of the five-match series between Pakistan A and Kenya, Shaharyar said: “This is the first step towards the revival of international cricket. I feel this tour has been successful. Next year, we intend to invite more teams and soon the local cricket lovers and fans will see more action at the home grounds.”
Lauding the contribution of every department in making the entire series successful, the PCB chief said: “I would like to thank everyone including the Police, Rangers and the Intelligence Agencies who were associated with this tour. “I want to let you all know that Kenya team was happy with their stay, they had just one complaint and that was about the cold weather,” he added.
“We didn’t hide them in the academy, rather we showed them many places in the city like Aitcheson College, Badshahi Masjid and Governor House and many other places,” he said.
Expressing his gladness over Pakistan A team’s tremendous performances, Shaharyar said: “Matches were good and I feel many players showed us that they are contenders for a spot in the national team. We were not complacent, we gave our best and this is why we won all five matches.”
He said that the Australian, Netherland’s and Kenya High Commissioners witnessed the final with him. “We gave security briefings to the Australian High Commissioner, the Kenya High Commissioner and the Ambassador from Netherlands.”
