FIA probing ‘fake column’ in Irfan Siddiqui’s name

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday registered a first information report (FIR) against an unidentified accused for writing a column and publishing it on social media in the name of known columnist and Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqui.

The FIA Cyber Crime Wing initiated investigation on the application of Irfan Siddiqui addressed to the FIA director general.

Siddiqui stated that someone had written a fake column, titled ‘Bright features of Mula Fazl Ullah’s life’ using his name and circulated it on different social media sites. The rebuttal was issued on February 2, 2014 which was published in newspapers.

“Now‑a‑days the same column is again being circulated on different social media sites,” he added. He stated that the said column was not published in any newspaper, magazine or any book. Moreover, he had no Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Siddiqui requested for investigation through agency’s Cyber Crime Wing and for steps to remove the column from the media sites.
