- Mazari, Habib share ‘visual evidence’ of a PML-N meeting allegedly held to map anti-PTI operation
Days after former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah denied involvement in the killing of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist during clashes with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in Faisalabad, the PTI presented visual evidence against his claim and demanded his arrest.
While showing TV footage and pictures, PTI Information Secretary Shireen Mazari told a press conference Friday, “We are showing this to prove that Sanaullah was involved in the entire episode and it was a planned killing operation by the PML-N.”
Mazari and Farrukh Habib, a PTI candidate from Faisalabad, shared videos and pictures of a PML-N meeting, which allegedly took place at circuit house before their December 8 protest in the city.
During the briefing, Habib showed Sanaullah’s son-in-law Rana Shaheryar, business partner Mian Ayaz, Attique Ansari, Jamal Dogar, Sheikh Qaiser, Nadeem Mughal and Parvez Jutt taking part in PML-N meetings and being present during the clashes with PTI workers.
“We have lodged an FIR against Sanaullah. Free and fair investigations are not possible until he is arrested,” Mazari said.
“Nothing really happened after the Model Town incident,” Mazari pointed out, adding that Sanauallah was merely removed from his post as law minister but no action was taken against him.
“Sanaullah has links with proscribed organisations, has his own militant wing and after investigations, his links with the Raymond Davis case will also surface,” she added.
Mazari further claimed that the PML-N has disassociated itself from the perpetrators of violence in Faisalabad, however, “if Rana Sanaullah’s involvement is proven, the party would have to immediately arrest him.”
Moreover, she demanded that the role of the bureaucracy and the police during the incident should also be investigated.
TALKS NOT DELAYED:
Furthermore, Mazari clarified that talks with the government had not been delayed and the PTI had not withdrawn its demand of the prime minister’s resignation.
“We have merely delayed the decision of our resignations from the assemblies and the demand for the PM’s resignation,” she added.
Sharing details of negotiations, she said that a preliminary round of talks would take place between Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal and PTI leader Asad Umar on Sunday, following which there would a meeting between the two committees on Tuesday (December 16).
“We will not withdraw our call for protest in Lahore on December 15,” the PTI leader said in response to a question, while adding that the “withdrawal of the call for a shutdown of the entire country on December 18 would depend on the constitution of a judicial commission.”
