The Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) said on Friday voiced concerns over killing of its workers in Chanesar Goth and demanded the government to take action.
Addressing a press conference here, MQM’s Rabita Committee member Ghazi Salahuddin said four party activists were killed and several others injured in Chanesar Goth during the last one week.
“The killings of MQM’s workers continue unabated. Terrorists are frequently targeting our workers in Chanesar Goth,” he said.
Chanesar Goth would become another Lyari if law enforcement agencies did not galvanise into action against criminals, he said.
Flanked by other MQM RC members, he asked, “When will the chief minister wake up to the problems of the city.”
He said no monitoring cell could be established in Karachi as yet. The MQM leader asked why Rangers personnel didn’t carry out a targeted operation in Chanesar Goth despite repeated crimes. He alleged that the government was patronising criminals who were operating in Chanesar Goth.
He also called for Sindh Rangers chief to take action against the criminals. He also called upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar to take notice of the situation.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain condemned the incident and appealed the government to take notice of the tragic murder, adding that Chanesar Goth like Lyari had become a safe haven for terrorists.
He demanded the killers be arrested and brought to justice at the earliest as the terrorists had targeted the MQM workers in the area many times before the incident which claimed Abdul Qadir’s life. Altaf Hussain said it seemed that terrorists were operating under the shadow of government. Abdul Qadir was a member of MQM’s suburban committee.
