Five children died on Wednesday due to malnutrition in drought-hit Tharparkar.
The annual death toll in the region has crossed 500.
With the increasing number of deaths – especially of children – Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on December 6 had directed for the constitution of a two-member commission to probe into the drought-related deaths.
Prior to this directive, the Sindh High Court had directed the provincial government to take serious steps to ensure an end to drought-related deaths.
During the hearing of a suo motu case on the deaths caused by the calamity, a report on the issue was presented before the bench which claimed that most of the victims were below the age of five.
