Endorsing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s anti-government movement, former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf has said that he would invite PTI chairman to join his political alliance.

Last week, he unveiled his plan to unite Muslim League factions on one platform.

In a brief chat with a private TV channel on Tuesday, Musharraf said he supports Khan’s ongoing movement against the government. “I will also welcome Tahirul Qadri if he is willing to join our alliance,” he added.

The former military ruler opined that an “empowered government” should be formed to pull the country out of crises.

Musharraf, who is being tried for high treason, said that army should be given a constitutional role in government under National Security Council. The military should also put check and balance on governance, he suggested.

The former strongman, however, opposed the role of prime spy agency ISI in politics.

  2. Musharraf backs Khan and surely he is aware Khan has the support of the people. Th entire nation is united behind Imran Khan fighting for justice, law to take effect against Dhandli Brigade, bring about proper reforms in our electoral system and then hold fair and free elections in the country. Musharraf seems to endorse all this then he should declare his unqualified support for Khan and recommend the same course to Tahirul Qadri and MQM. This will achieve the strong alliance that he is talking about. One thing is clear an upright man like Khan will co-operate with anybody who is offering selfless service of the country without any rewards in return. He will never agree to any bunder-baants shady deals or a price for his services..
