Members of All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) belonging to Population Welfare and Advisory Committee held a protest demonstration on Monday outside the Karachi Press Club against Secretary Population Department for recruiting his favourite men and delaying promotions of deserving emplyees.

Protestors, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against department’s high officials and demanded immediate justice.

Addressing the protestors, Chairman APCA Rasool Bux Abbasi, Vice Chairman-I Mohammad Hashim Lashari, Vice Chairman-II Mehtab Ali Qureshi and General Secretary Abdul Qudoos Shaikh said that they were protesting since six months in different districts of Sindh but secretary Population Department was not showing his positive response.

They alleged that secretary population had appointed his likeminded people on the post of accountants and assistants.

They said overall 40,000 employees of grade 5 to 14 had not been given promotions for last many years but according to rules after every three years, the employee is illegible for promotion.

They said action should be taken against the persons who had been given promotion on the basis of fake degrees. They said that they had sent their charter of demand to Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Chief Minister Sindh, Chief Secretary Sindh and Population Welfare Minister Ali Mardan Shah and asked them provide justice to poor employees.

The leaders warned that until they do not get justice, they would continue protest outside the KPC on daily basis, in addition long standing sit-in would be observed in Population Welfare Headquarters Karachi on 10 December 2014.
