*CM directs to ensure fixed rates of sugarcanes
While issuing strict instructions to divisional commissioners and DCOs, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the procurement of sugarcane by sugar mills from sugarcane growers of Punjab at fixed rates should be ensured, adding that the process of purchase of sugarcane by sugar mills from farmers should not be stopped at any cost.
The chief minister has ordered indiscriminate action as per law against those sugar mills not purchasing sugarcane from farmers at fixed rates.
He said that those violating the fixed rates deserve no leniency and violation will not be tolerated at any cost.
He said that the fixed rates of sugarcane will not be allowed to come down and the government will take all necessary steps in this regard.
Shahbaz said that he himself is monitoring the situation and further directed commissioners and DCOs to submit report regarding procurement of sugarcane from farmers at fixed rates on daily basis.
