Another polio case reported in Balochistan

Another case of poliovirus was detected in an 18-month-old boy in Killa Abdullah district, raising the total number of cases in Balochistan to 17 this year.

A health official confirmed that poliovirus was detected in Noor Ahmed, a resident of Union Council Daman Ashazai, village New Abadi Bypass, Chaman tehsil.

“The child was administered five Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) doses through Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIA),” an official of Health Department said.

With the confirmation of the latest case, the total tally of polio cases in Balochistan has reached 17. Most of the cases in the province are reported in the Quetta zone, which comprises Quetta, Pishin and Killa Abdullah, while one case each reported in Zhob and Khuzdar districts.
