Elimination of militancy will boost foreign investment: Mamnoon

Talking to a delegation of General Electric Company at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said that militancy in the country was under control and the menace would be completely eradicated soon. The elimination of militancy would help boost foreign investment as Pakistan offered the best trade regulations in the region, he added.

The president said that Pakistan was on the right path as its economy was growing better than regional countries despite international economic crisis. The government was working on several important projects for next four years, which would create business opportunities for foreign investors, he added. He urged the General Electric Company to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan and invited it to particularly invest in power and railways sectors.

The president said the prime minister and his energy team was determined to end the power crisis in the country, adding that the problem would be overcome during the tenure of present government. He hoped that the government’s efforts would help eradicate polio at national level.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Board of Investment (BoI) Miftah Ismail, BoI Secretary Syed Iftikhar Hussain Babar, Petroleum and Natural Resources Secretary Abid Saeed, Planning Commission Secretary Hassan Nawaz Tarar, Railways Secretary Perveen Agha, Water and Power Secretary Muhammad Younus Dagha and President’s Secretary Ahmed Farooq.
