The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Raabita Committee on Thursday alleged that government jobs in Sindh are sold against money.
Addressing a press conference, MQM Raabita Committee members alleged that Pakistan People’s Party was snatching rights from Sindh’s urban population. It also expressed concerns over Pir Mazharul Haq’s statement.
Senator Babar Ghauri said that the decisions in Sindh are being taken on the basis of prejudice. He urged the PPP government not to engage in politics of hatred and linguistic prejudice. He said discrimination will lead to call for separate administrative units.
MQM alleged that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has always kept the urban population pushed to the corner.
Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the urban populace has the right on 600,000 government jobs of Sindh. He demanded to assure fair distribution of government jobs, and that census be held on priority basis.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said the MQM leaders press conference “is a bunch of baseless allegations”.
“Whatever, they have said has nothing to do with the reality and truth,” he said.
He said that PPP government has given equal rights to the people of Sindh and also to the people of Pakistan right from the tenure of its founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
“It would not be an exaggeration to say that PPP government has served the people of Karachi and Hyderabad with more attention and focus,” he said, adding that the PPP leadership has never differentiated between Larkana and Karachi.
The spokesperson said PPP has given jobs purely on merit and nobody raised finger of accusation. The present PPP government imposed ban on recruitment as it came into power about one and half year ago. “Last month ban was lifted and only the positions of constables were filled purely on merit,” he said.
The spokesperson further said MQM had made over employment in KMC, KBCA and in such other local bodies of Karachi and Hyderabad purely on political basis.
