PUC to take part in general election

Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that the PUC will take part in election process after registration of the party with the election commission.

Addressing an Ulema Convention at Jamia Inwarul Islam on Tuesday, Ashrafi said that the PUC had submitted application for the registration as political party. He stated that ulema should play their role in creating awareness in public about social problems and their solution.

He pledged that PUC would strive hard to forge unity among people. He said that ulema should also talk about public problems. He said that the government should follow proposals, which were comprised code and conduct to resolve issues pertaining to mosques, extended by the PUC.

He claimed the PUC suggestions would surely help reducing sectarianism and tensions.

He also urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to hold dialogue with the government and sort out issues. He also criticised the PTI leader for using indecent language against ulema leaders and stressed upon them to avoid such kind of criticism from container.

He also stated that no one could dare to abolish law of Namoos-e-Rasalat (PBUH). He, however, clarified that wrong use of the law would be discouraged strictly.
