• Five young designers introduced to a packed audience at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture
KARACHI-
Fashion Pakistan, the leading platform for Pakistani fashion designers, and Maybelline New York, the world’s leading make up brand, successfully concluded the debut Maybelline New York Millennial Fashion 2014 (“MNMF14”). The event was held on 22nd November at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture.
MNMF14 introduced a new generation of designers, styling teams, and models. The event also saw leading model Fayeza Ansari debut in her first major showing as a choreographer. The five young fashion entrepreneurs introduced during MNMF14 were: Aalish, Nitasha Yaqub, Sameer Sain, Abel Emanuel, and Madiha Raza.
The show kicked off with Aalish and her collection which revolved around Royal Soccer; Nitasha Yaqub’s collection was based around Anglo culture; Sameer Sain focused on denim and jute; while Abel’s inspiration was derived from Hebrew calligraphy. Madiha Raza closed the show with a bang and a standing ovation over her Flight’s of Birds collection.
Voting cards were handed out to audience members at the beginning of the show, asking them to select their favourite designer of the evening. The designer with leading votes will be given a free slot at the Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer 2015. No fees were charged to new designers showcasing their designs at MNMF, and the selection was purely based on their quality of work.
Speaking at the end of the show, CEO Fashion Pakistan Wardha Saleem said, “The Maybelline New York Millennial Fashion showcase was envisaged as a platform dedicated to promoting the next generation of fashion talent. It was amazing to see the support and enthusiasm of the audience for these young fashionistas. We’re confident that, together with Maybelline New York, and more young designers, MNMF will become the new paradigm in Pakistani fashion.”
