An injured worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), could not sustain injures and passed away on Saturday, private media reported.

The membership camp of MQM in Orangi Town was attacked by a hand-grenade on Friday night. At least, 20 people were injured including three MQM Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Mohammad Hussain, Sheikh Abdullah and Saifuddin Khalid.

The deceased worker, identified as Abdul Jabbar, and two others were critically injured. Wounded persons were  taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital; however, Jabbar could not sustain injuries and yielded to death.

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday condemned the attack on his party’s membership campaign and demanded strict action against the banned outfit.

Meanwhile,  Tehreek-e-Taliban on Saturday claimed responsibility for the attack.

Previously, talking to private media via telephone spokesman for Jamaatul Ahrar, Ehsanullah Ehsan stated, “the MQM and other political parties who are thriving on the anti-Taliban agenda are on our hit list”.
