PPP dubs PTI’s rally a ‘flop show’

ANP leader tells Khan to ask opinion of people of KP before asking Sindhis’ opinion over KBD

PML-N’s Sanaullah says PTI chief is scared of completion of PM’s economic agenda

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Larkana on Friday attracted the ire of various political parties, especially the ruling party in Sindh, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Terming Imran Khan’s rally a “flop show”, Sindh Information Minister Sharjil Memon said that not more than 10, 000 people turned up at PTI’s rally.

To a question, he said that the people of Sindh are fully satisfied with the PPP government.

Separately, senior PPP leader Saeed Ghani said that participation of people in PTI’s rally was lower than PPP’s expectation of 25,000 people.

“Khan’s face tells the story itself. He was disappointed to see the poor response,” Ghani said.

Provincial minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the PTI chief should first go through “self-examination” before criticising others.

Several schools are closed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hence Imran should first look into his own province rather than highlighting the closure of schools in Sindh, he said.

He said PTI could hold a rally anywhere in Sindh as “PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has devotees in Ghotki, Larkana and other parts of the province”.

When asked about the PTI rally in PPP’s stronghold Larkana, Khuhro said PPP’s stronghold was the entire country and not one province. He alleged that Khan supports Taliban but said that PPP has always opposed Taliban.

CRITICISM FROM ANP, PML-N:

ANP leader Senator Zahid Khan said that besides seeking Sindhis’ views regarding the construction of the controversial Kalabagh Dam, Khan should also seek the opinion of the masses in KP, where PTI is in power.

The construction of the Kalabagh Dam has long been a heated debate in Pakistan, where politicians and pressure groups argue over the provinces’ fair share of water from River Indus to support local agricultural needs.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader and former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah said that the PTI chief is scared of completion of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s economic agenda.

“Nawaz is getting on Khan’s nerves,” he said in a statement. Sanaullah said that Khan did not want to change the country’s system but “only wanted to fulfil his desire of coming into power”.

“How can Khan question others when he lives in a castle worth billions of rupees?” said Sana.
