Rawalpindi CPO says number of extortion cases has declined significantly, asks traders to hire private guards for business centres
Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Humayun Bashir Tarar has said that all registered extortion cases have been resolved and after a notable decrease can be observed in such cases after this success.
Rawalpindi chamber’s concerns over bad law and order situation is justified and despite limited resources police is doing all efforts to maintain law and order in city but masses should also cooperate with police to eliminate criminal element from the society. He said that Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) will be established to curb all unlawful activities and chambers will be given representation in CPLC.
He was exchanging these views with a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) led by RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi in a meeting held at his office on Wednesday.
Former President Sohail Altaf, Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Parvez, Vice President Saboor Malik, Shaikh Siddique, Members Executive Committee Ateeq Malik, Badar Haroon and others were included in the delegation.
The CPO said that it is the responsibility of police to provide protection to citizens and police is making utmost effort to maintain peace in the city but due to limited resources some incidents happens. He suggested that business community should hire private guards for business centres and police will train them for situation like robbery, theft or any such incidents to ensure security. He said that without the help of public it will be difficult to defeat such elements and it is need of the hour to create awareness about policing in society. He appealed the masses to check all necessary details of tenants before giving them your property on rental basis.
