Prominent lawyer and former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jahangir has termed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as ‘bonga (naive) Khan’, escalating the war of words that started after the renowned lawyer and human rights activist criticised the crickter-turned-politician for demanding the inclusion of intelligence agents in the judicial commission being proposed to probe alleged rigging in last year’s general elections.
Imran Khan on Tuesday had criticised Asma for rebuking women’s participation and dances at PTI rallies, saying the lawyer had herself danced during a visit to India and that it seemed she had befriended Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazlur Rehman, who has also been critical of women dancing on party anthems at the PTI sit-in protest in Islamabad.
Responding to Khan’s critical remarks, Jahangir warned the PTI chief to remember his past actions and watch what he says because “he is not perfect enough to criticise others”.
“I have never criticised dancing. If Khan wants to go to India and dance I have not stopped him nor is he under any sort of restriction,” she said while referring to Khan’s speeches from his container as the “fatwa of bonga Khan”.
She warned Khan to remain within limits of decency else they will also retaliate in the same manner.
