Government has decided to tap opportunities for commercial utilisation of railway lands, especially those near railway stations, said a senior official of the Punjab government on Sunday.
The government, the official said, had constituted a committee headed by the chief secretary for preparing recommendations on practical possibilities to promote commercial and business activities at Railway lands.
A period of one month has been given to the committee to complete the task after a detailed study, he said.
The committee will consider preparation of a feasibility report for construction of sports grounds and other venues having profitable economic activities, he said.
This initiative is part of the government’ s planning to utilise available resources, increase earning of national organisations, strengthening national economy and ensure public welfare, he said.
