Around 1,100 Sikh pilgrims reached Nankana Saheb on Wednesday to participate in the 546th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak.

The pilgrims boarded two trains, particularly designated for this purpose, and went to Nankana Saheb from Wagah border where they were received by Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Siddiqul Farooq.

Talking to journalists, the Sikh pilgrims said that the suicide bombing at Wagah border did not scare them and they were continuing to perform their religious duties. They collectively praised the warm welcome accorded to them.

Around 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India were expected to participate in the anniversary celebrations, with many already gathered in Nankana Sahib. The celebrations would continue from November 7 until November 11.

FOUR SUSPECTED TERRORISTS ARRESTED:

Meanwhile, the security personnel have tightened Nankana Sahib’s security after they arrested four suspected terrorists, identified as Sadhu, Hidayatullah, Umer Farooq and Riasat Ali, who they claim had come to the city from Faisalabad.

According to initial details, these suspects were present inside the gurudwara and had arrived there in a car with a fake press sticker on it. The suspects reportedly posed as media officials from Quetta and entered the worship place but were soon arrested.

The suspects have been shifted to an unidentified location for interrogation.
