SC seeks report on defective drainage system

Seeking report from Punjab Finance Secretary within a month, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of a suo motu notice regarding defective drainage system.

The bench comprised Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the matter at SC Lahore Registry.

During the case hearing, Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) managing director submitted a blue print for the project for rainwater disposal. He said that work on the project could not start as the Finance Department had not given any funds for its undertaking despite approval of PC 1 of the project.

SC TAKES NOTICE OF PIC DEATHS:

Separately, the SC bench took suo motu notice of deaths at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) due to faulty medication provided to heart patients. The Punjab health secretary and the Punjab advocate general were summoned by the bench on November 7 to give a detailed report over the matter.
