The National Assembly (NA) Secretariat has informed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarians were avoiding verification of their resignations.

National Assembly Joint Secretary Muhammad Mushtaq issued a circular in the name of ECP Director General Elections Masood Ahmed Malik, informing the commission that members of the PTI whose resignations were received in the Secretariat have avoided coming forward to verify the genuineness and voluntary nature of their resignations in terms of rule 43 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.

However, the resignations of the PTI parliamentarians were not attached with the letter.

The election commission had sent a letter to the National Assembly on September 16 about status of the resignations. The commission asked the NA Secretariat to not accept the resignations on given dates as it will create problem for holding by-elections.
