Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani on Thursday visited the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi and prayed for protection of Karachi from the cyclone Nilofar heading towards coastal line of the country.

Ghazi’s shrine attracts a stream of devotees for diverse reasons ranging from preaching love and tolerance to warding off tropical disasters.

Speaking to media on the occasion, Durrani said he had prayed for the protection of Karachi and laid a sheet of cloth on the grave to seek blessings of the saint.

He said many storms and cyclones failed to strike the city and province in the past due to blessings of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

Some people believe that Abdullah Shah Ghazi was able to control the sea waters using a bowl in the sea and order it to remain calm.

The speaker said he came to know about cyclone through media reports, adding precautionary measures should have been adopted a month ago.
