Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan was undergoing a crucial stage and that there was dire need for order in politics in current situation.
Speaking at a convention in London attended by various delegations, Shahbaz said that the political actors that aimed to divide the nation and to drag it into the chasm of separatism, in the name of a dissatisfied people on the Independence Day, had failed miserably. He said that sit-in politics had not worked in Pakistan’s favour as a nation either.
Shahbaz said the national economy was tattered to smithereens due to sit-ins and the political damage caused had come in the way of successful international relations for the nation. Activities of political actors engaged in negative politics had resulted in postponement of the Chinese president’s visit and the economy faced a stumbling setback of billions of dollars. His stance was that this money could have been utilised for the undertaking of various developmental projects.
The CM assured the delegations that through hard work, commitment and determination, the nation could progress and that the goal of achieving political stability could be expedited under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.
The chief minister said Pakistani people had entrusted a five-year mandate to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and that the party would not disappoint the masses. He promised that people’s expectations would be fulfilled if given a fair chance but some of the country’s negative political actors were engaged in evil conspiracies that were bound to result in derailment of national progress and prosperity. He showed hope that people were wise enough to distinguish political leaders serving them selflessly from political entities heaving them towards anarchy.
He said developmental activities and national progress were in peril due to these negative elements and for a smooth functioning of the state, these hurdles were to be done away with. The CM claimed that these actors had been responsible for disruption in a smooth functioning economy. The nation’s economics have suffered a massive setback because of a rising tide of anarchists who did not have good intentions towards the state.
The CM suggested the anarchists engaged in negative politics should learn to comply and engage in constructive politics rather than negate the political process as their sit-ins had failed miserably.
He ended his address by asserting that it was time to promote national unity and to rise up from political divides and serve the nation selflessly.
