Lauding the decision of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri to end sit-in in the federal capital, Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage (IB&HN) Senator Pervez Rashid has suggested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to follow PAT suit.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Rashid elaborated that the incumbent government had acknowledged the right of people’s protests and went all its way out to facilitate the participants of sit-ins. This showed present government’s faith in democracy and democratic norms, he added.
He said that government allowed the protestors to enter the Red Zone and record their protest for 70 long days despite the fact that the sit-ins badly affected the socio-economic condition of the country.
The information minister said that it was the beauty of democracy in which thousands of demonstrators were allowed right in front of administrative machinery of the federal government.
