Pakistan cherishes good relations with Cuba, says NA speaker

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Pakistan greatly values its cordial relations with Cuba and the decades old warm relations between the two countries need to be taken up to new heights through economic and parliamentary cooperation.

The Speaker was talking to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba Mr. Rogelio Sierra Diaz who called on him in Parliament House, this afternoon.

The Speaker said that present government has created conducive environment for foreign investment by introducing various incentives and reforms in the economic sector.

He said that friendship and cooperation between both the countries serve the fundamental interests of the two countries. He also appreciated Cuba’s generous relief assistance for the October, 2005 earthquake affectees and Cuban assistance for the Pakistani students in health education.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, Mr. Rogelio Sierra Diaz has said that Pakistan and Cuban relations were established in 1955 and we are planning to celebrate 60th Anniversary of Cuba Pakistan relationship next year.

He said that Cuba wanted to further strengthening its relations with Pakistan.

The Deputy Foreign Minister said that both the countries needed to enhance cooperation in trade, economic and other sectors through the parliamentarians of both the countries.

While appreciating the performance of Pakistani students studying in Cuba, he assured the Speaker that Cuba will continue all kind of assistance and support to the Pakistani students studying there.
