AAG appointed prosecutor in contempt case against Luqman

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has appointed Punjab Additional Advocate General (AAG) Khan Gul as prosecutor in contempt of court case against Mubashar Luqman, anchor person of a private TV channel.

A five-member bench of LHC presided over by Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi took up the case for hearing Tuesday.

Mubashar Luqman appeared in the court and filed his statement. He said that he respected judiciary and he had not conducted any anti judiciary program.

The court remarked, “No one should consider himself above law and everything will be done as per law.”

Counsel for Luqman sought more time for filing reply.

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Pervez Rathore informed the court that PEMRA while taking suo motu action had imposed ban on Luqman program and fined the private TV channel.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case till October, 23 summoned the counsels of the parties concerned for arguments.
