Civilian station assistants to be recruited for better policing

Punjab police have decided to recruit one hundred civilian senior station assistants and police station assistants to change the attitude of the force and to improve coordination between the police and people.

The decision was made in a high level meeting held at the Central Police Office on Sunday with Punjab Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera in the chair.

Pilot project of the recruitment of senior station assistants and police station assistants will start in ten police stations of the city to test the project. Later, after the success of the project its horizon would be expanded.

Twenty male senior station assistants, 60 male and 20 women police station assistants would be recruited in this project. These recruitment would be on contractual basis.

It was decided in the meeting that method of the recruitment will be advertised in newspapers. After taking six weeks training, the incumbents will be deployed in police stations and the project will be active round the clock in three shifts. The pilot project will start functioning from January 2015.
