Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has said that he would independently decide the fate of his party’s anti-government sit-in after the party conducts a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore.

Before his departure from Faisalabad to Islamabad Friday, Qadri said that he intends to carry out consultations after reaching the site of the sit-in and shall announce the future strategy after Lahore’s rally on October 19.

He said Javed Hashmi had to face the consequences of criticising sit-ins and hurling baseless allegations regarding the “London plan”.

“Hashmi was unable to understand the psyche of the people,” said Qadri.

Qadri alleged that funds for flood victims worth billions of rupees were embezzled by the authorities.

“Cheques issued to flood victims in Jhang have bounced and victims continue to suffer,” he said.

The government’s proclamation of compensating victims with Rs 4,000 per acre of land owned also proved a farce and nobody received a single penny, he added.
