A security high alert has been declared in Hyderabad Central Jail after Rangers thwarted a militants bid to break into Karachi Central Jail.
According to jail sources, security has been stepped up in Central Jail Hyderabad since midnight on Monday.
Additional contingents of police, and paramilitary forces have been deployed at various points within the jail and outside.
Meanwhile, security men conducted a search operation in the employees’ colony of the Central Jail. They searched houses and gathered information from the residents, sources said.
US journalist Daniel Pearl’s murder convict Sheikh Omar and many other high-profile prisoners belonging to banned militant groups have been imprisoned in Hyderabad Jail.
