As many as 3,500 policemen would be deployed in the city under a comprehensive security plan chalked out for peaceful observance of Eidul Azha.
According to Rawalpindi Police spokesman, 712 mosques of District Rawalpindi, 58 Eid congregations and 52 Imambargahs would be given security cover during Eid prayers.
Elite Force, Mohafiz Squad, Special Branch personnel along with ladies police personnel and police national volunteers would also perform duties during Eid days.
As per the plan, women police personnel and plain-clothed policemen would be deployed in different markets.
Close circuit television (CCTV) cameras would also be installed at important places and locations to check the movement of any suspected elements.
On the special instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Humayon Bashir Tarar, a comprehensive security plan was formulated for Eidul Azha.
As per the plan, policemen would patrol various sectors and police officers of the respective circles would ensure proper security at the Eid congregations to be held across the city.
Walk-through gates and scanners would also be installed at main Eid congregations for the safety of the citizens.
Special directives have also been passed on to all the officers concerned for ensuring effective security measures.
Special check posts have been set up at the entry and exit points of the city while over 250 policemen and officers are performing security duty at these places.
All respective Superintendents of Police (SPs) have also been directed to supervise security arrangements in their areas.
