Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday hosted a reception in honour of Pakistan’s women cricket team which won Asian Games Women Cricket final and announced cash price of Rs 500,000 for each player and officials of team.
The chief minister congratulated the captain of women’s cricket team, Sana Mir, Coach, Women Cricket Team Chairperson Bushara Aitizaz and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shehryar Khan on winning the gold medal.
Addressing the function, the chief minister said that women cricket team had won laurels for the country by winning the gold medal in Asian Games. He said that the whole nation was proud of the splendid performance of the women cricket players, adding women players were ambassadors of Pakistan and they had proved this fact through excellent team work on and off the field.
Shahbaz said that collective efforts should be made to ensure that maximum number of foreign teams should come to Pakistan so that sports could be promoted in the country. He said that Cricket Board and officials of other institutions should make vigorous efforts for convincing foreign teams in this regard.
