Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a suspected killer of PTI leader Zahra Shahid Hussain who was gunned down in Karachi in May this year, police said on Thursday.
SP Investigation Faizullah Junejo said the suspect had confessed his involvement in Ms Shahid’s murder. The deceased was vice-president of PTI’s Sindh chapter.
The SP investigation said probe of the case was underway. He said further probe would be conducted after remand of the accused by court.
Police sources said they had nabbed three suspects in connection with the PTI leader’s murder. The PTI leader was killed late on the night of May 18, 2013, in an attempted robbery incident on the eve of re-polls in Karachi’s NA-250 constituency.
According to law enforcers’ account, three motorcyclists had tried to snatch Ms Shahid’s handbag and opened fire on for offering resistance outside her residence in the city’s Defence Housing Authority, Phase-IV.
