Salary-less JPMC’s neuro doctors tired of admin’s mind games

Employees of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC)’s Neurosurgery Department Wednesday staged a protest outside the JPMC director’s office against non-payment of their three-month salaries.

Dozens of neurosurgery employees from grade 1 to 16, carrying placards and banners inscribed with different slogans, demonstrated against the account department’s officials of JPMC over their “bureaucratic delays”.

Neurosurgery Employees Action Committee President Ameer Ali Dinari said 104 regular employees of Neurosurgery Department have been deprived of their salaries for last three months. He said employees and their families were facing great hardships due to delay in their salaries.

He demanded provincial authorities to take notice of issue and play their due role in early release of salaries. He vowed to continue their protest till the release of pending salaries.

However, JPMC Joint Director Dr Seemi Jamali said these employees were recruited by the last federal government and later were regularised on their posts but after the 18th Amendment they were transferred to provincial government.

She said JPMC administration had forwarded PC-4 for lower cadres of neurosurgery project but provincial finance department and accountant general Sindh are yet to approve it. She said administration is in contact with the health secretary for early release of their salaries.
