Islamabad High Court (IHC) has upheld registrar’s objections over a petition seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Javed Hashmi and directed the petitioner to resort to proper forum.
A two-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz and Justice Athar Minullah took up for hearing petition filed against Javed Hashmi Wednesday.
Raees Mumtaz Hussain counsel for the petitioner Muhammad Afzal appeared and took the plea in the court that Javed Hashmi had levelled baseless allegations against army and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) which have been published in the newspapers. Therefore court should disqualify PTI president and prevent him from contesting the election, he prayed.
The court remarked, “PTI President Javed Hashmi is contesting election from Multan and IHC can not disqualify him. Therefore, the petitioner should approach proper forum.”
The court ordered that the petitioner should take the petition seeking Javed Hashmi disqualification to election commission office Multan and file it therein.
The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely.
