Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk has taken the notice of appointment of an “impersonator” Dr Faaiz Ali Syed as Islamabad Drug Control chairman by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights.

The office informed the CJP that Syed has been involved in various impersonation cases pertaining to superior judiciary in which he posed himself as Justice Nasirul Mulk and in another case as Supreme Court registrar. The matter was referred to FIA and IGP, Lahore and the case was registered against him on July 6, 2011.

Moreover, the office briefed that on August 19, 2014 the impersonator was appointed by the federal government as Drug Control chairman BPS 21 on contract basis on standard terms and conditions for period of two years or until further orders. Later on, his contract appointment was terminated on August 29, 2014 with approval of prime minister.

After going through the above details the CJP directed the Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights secretary to offer his comments on the criteria adopted in the appointment of Syed as well as the circumstances which led withdrawal of notification of his appointment.
