National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry Monday inaugurated NAB’s Forensic Laboratory in Rawalpindi.
NAB Rawalpindi director general (DG), Training and Research Division (T&R) DG and other senior officers of the bureau were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the chairman said that the main purpose of this laboratory was to equip NAB with latest technology to cater for its emerging needs to eliminate the menace of corruption form the society.
The chairman directed T&R DG to provide state-of-the-art training to the officers who have been posted at the Forensic Lab. The chairman advised T&R DG that this Forensic Lab not only should fulfil bureau’s own requirements but it should be referred as one of the authentic Forensic Lab of the country.
With the help of properly functioning forensic lab, investigation officers (IOs) probing different high profile corruption cases will be able to produce better and quick results for the bureau.
Currently, NAB is taking help from other investigating agencies to meet its needs in the cases where help of forensic experts is needed. This not only causes delays in investigation process but also impinges on secrecy issues.
