Islamabad Police have arrested 50 persons involved in street crimes during the current year and recovered 74 snatched mobile phones, looted cash and valuables including gold ornaments from their possession, a police spokesman said.
During this drive, he said that Islamabad Police enhanced patrolling as well as vigilance besides obtaining the record of those persons who had ever remained involved in street crimes and arrested a total of 50 criminals. He said that 74 snatched mobile phones, looted cash and valuables including gold ornaments were also recovered from their possession.
AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri directed all sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) to ensure effective patrolling in their jurisdictions and take stern action against the anti-social elements. Following his constant monitoring over police performance, police spokesman said a significant reduction was witnessed in street crime.
On the directions of Islamabad IGP Tahir Alam Khan, all police officials and SHOs have presently launched aggressive campaign against those involved in street crime while record of those remained involved in street crimes is also being compiled.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Police arrested 84 gamblers during raids in various areas of city and recovered stake money as well as other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from them.
SSP Mir Vais Niaz has also directed to ensure vigilance against the suspects and make effective checking at all entry and exit points of the city. “It is our prime responsibility to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens. Those police officials involved in dereliction of duties or adopting sluggish attitude would not be spared and strict disciplinary action would be taken against them,” the SSP maintained.
