6 killed in various firing incidents

As many as six people were gunned down in different firing mishaps on Thursday.

A youth, Ibrahim, 22, son of Saleh Mohammad, was gunned down by unidentified armed men near Niazi Chowk. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for an autopsy.

In another incident, Riaz, 45, son of Miskeen, resident of Orangi Town No 4, was shot dead near his house at Metro Cinema. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medical formalities. Station House Officer (SHO) PS Peerabad Naseer Magsi confirmed that two unidentified motorcyclists killed Mohammad Riaz near his house at Orangi Town No 4. Later, the accused managed to flee. The deceased was a taxi driver, and brother of a police constable, Umar. The motive behind the incident seemed personal enmity, he said.

Separately, an unknown person aged about 28, was killed in firing of unidentified accused in Lyari, Mohammad Ali Mohallah. The body was shifted to CHK for autopsy. In another incident, a youth, Fayaz, 30, son of Razaq, resident of North Karachi, committed suicide by taking poisonous substance at his house. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-formalities.

According to rescue sources, the motive behind the suicide was a domestic problem. Dr Kalim, Medical Legal Officer (MLO) JPMC, reported that a person namely Zameerullah, son of Wali Mohammad, aged 30 years, was brought injured from Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth. Later, he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

The PS Baghdadi SHO reported that police and Rangers took a joint action against criminals at Eido Lane Lyari. An encounter took place between police and criminals. Resultantly, a criminal of Lyari Gang War Ghaffar Zikri Group, Naseer Gul, son of Mohammad Saleem, aged 20 years, were killed. However, one pistol (9mm) with 10 rounds was recovered from his possession. The dead body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.
