Investigation report of the Model Town incident will be made public once it is completed, said Punjab Law Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan while talking to journalists on Wednesday.
He said that no one is held accountable in the investigation report, adding that a new joint investigation team will be formed to probe the incident.
The law minister also said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif believes in merit and the government will take all steps for its supremacy.
Mashhood, while commenting on the sit-ins of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in the federal capital, said that the tour of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the country was delayed due to the protests of the two parties.
“The nation itself will hold the protesters accountable,” he added.
LHC FORWARDS PETITION TO REVEAL MODEL TOWN CASE REPORT TO FULL BENCH:
Meanwhile, Lahore High Court (LHC) has referred the petition filed against failure to reveal the Model Town incident case report in the court to the full bench on Wednesday.
Justice Syed Manzoor Ali Shah, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that the judicial inquiry of the incident was carried out by Ali Bakir Najfi. After investigating the suspects, the tribunal created a report about the case but the Punjab government is not making it public.
The report must be presented in the court followed by an immediate action taken against the suspects, the petitioner’s lawyer stated. The court, however, referred the case to the full bench in Islamabad declaring the case sensitive.
