The Transparency International (TI) had formally approached National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh director general for the immediate initiation on foiling the biggest land allotment mega scam, which the TI had roughly estimated for the worth of Rs 400 billion.
The land scam covered underhand allotment of 600-acre of Mangrove land and for the utilisation of that huge piece of land, the already on the verge of elimination Mangrove forest on Sindh’s coastal belt were pulled out.
The TI had alleged Sindh government of being directly involved in land scam. The 600-acre Mangrove forest land was situated on the Arabian Sea covering the coastal belt of Sindh and many applicants had also emerged in past with a claim over the said portion of Mangrove forest. However, none in past could succeed in proving any claim on that precious land worth to be weighed in gold.
The TI informed the NAB DG that the authorities concerned had purposely avoided pursuing a case that was heard at court of law, which led to manipulation in the process of allotment of Mangrove forest land.
Former Sindh chief minister secretary was among those that conspired against the Mangrove forest land, which was allotted to him and some of his relatives by Sindh Board of Revenue and hence the case was so complicated to exactly pinpoint the beneficiaries of the 600-acre of Mangrove Land.
The TI urged upon the NAB DG to pay special attention to that mega land scam because that was no normal scam of land but involved Mangrove forest land, which once destroyed would never be brought back and the coming generations would continue to suffer for centuries ahead.
The TI also urged upon the NAB DG to initiate immediate investigation and play his role for the cancellation of allotment of that precious MangroveForest land and those involved in this mega land scam should be taken to task.
