Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has claimed that the government was building a bridge worth Rs 2.5 billion to save Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Ramzan Sugar Mill from flood in Jhang while the citizens were suffering flood damages.

Addressing the Azadi March participants in the capital, the cricketer-turned-politician said farmers had complained that Ramzan Sugar Mill did not pay them the price of sugarcanes for one year and now they were offering only 70 percent of the agreed price.

Earlier addressing the flood victims in Jhang, Khan had claimed that the decision to breach Athara Hazari protective dyke also rested on the government’s objective to save Sharif brothers’ sugar mill.

“If the barriers were built, there would have been no problems. If the protective dykes were repaired, then so many people would not have been affected by floods.”

Khan said that a “true fight” for the rights of the people was continuing in Islamabad. They had not forgotten flood victims and will go up to any extent for their rehabilitation, he added.
