*Planning and Development department organises a walk to mark Anti-Dengue Day
Punjab Planning and Development (PD) department organised, on Sunday, a walk to mark the Anti-dengue day. The walk led by the PD member Ijaz Hussain and PD Deputy Secretary Administration, Education chief, Health chief, PPH chief, Research and Development chief, Agriculture chief, PPP Cell chief, Capacity Building PPP Cell, PPH assistant chief, coordination assistant chief, section officer general, protocol officer, information officer and a number of employees participated in the walk.
Addressing the participants, Ijaz Hussain said that the Punjab government is observing September 14 as “Anti-Dengue Day” with a determination that all segment of society would again step forward against dengue mosquitoes and ensure protection of human lives by utilising all possible resources.
“War against dengue has not yet completely finished, while the efforts would continue until its complete eradication,” he said.
He told that the government had saved thousands of lives by taking timely steps during the last years and situation with regard to dengue virus was under control across the province as compared to past due to effective steps taken by the government. All segments of society would have to play their effective role against dengue virus to defeat it through collective efforts, the member added.
Beside this, the department, launching an extensive drive to avert the spread of dengue mosquitoes also carried out grand cleanliness operation at the PD Complex. All officers and their staff members ensured their presence in the offices and also participated in the cleanliness drive.
As part of the cleanliness campaign, the PD department also distributed handbills regarding awareness about precautions and safety measures against dengue mosquitoes among officers and other staff.
