State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has asked the citizens to avoid writing political slogans on currency notes and said that banks will not accept such notes.

In reaction to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri’s statement urging citizens for visiting markets and shops with currency inscribed with slogan of “Go Nawaz Go”, SBP said that writing on currency notes is unlawful.

The SBP warned that in case of financial loss by writing on currency notes, the possessor will be responsible him/herself and legal action will be taken against the violators.

The SBP also issued directives to banks for closely monitoring political slogans on currency notes and don’t accept it if any such statement was found.

Meanwhile, economic experts have declared the Qadri’s statement of running political campaign by writing on currency notes as childish.
