ISLAMABAD
Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) has suspended talks with the government following arrests of its workers and leaders Azam Swati and Andaleeb Abaas, a private news channel reported.
Senior PTI leader Jehangir Tarin, while addressing a press conference, said that around 500 of their workers have been arrested across Islamabad along with Swati.
‘ People were being stopped from exercising their right to stage a peaceful protest,’ he said while adding that Punjab has become ‘the centre of state terrorism’.
He said that PTI will not backdown from its demands of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation despite ongoing police crackdown on workers.
He further said that the government was employing cheap tactics to cover up rigging in May 2013 general elections.
He said that PTI has suspended the talks with the government and has conveyed this decision to the political jirga.
He also demanded form the judiciary to take notice of the arrest of PTI workers.
