*Official asks federal government to relieve 3,500 police personnel from Red Zone
Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) has asked the federal government to return 3,500 personnel of his force who are now deployed at the Red Zone.
As per reports, Islamabad police has started withdrawing the Punjab police personnel from the Red Zone for their return to the places of their posting. The police personnel have reportedly been summoned back due to situation arising out of floods in different parts of the province.
The sources said that after the withdrawal of 3,500 police personnel, the security staff strength including police, rangers and FC would come down to 28,000.
