Sports goods export increases 9.50pc in July

Sports goods export from the country during the first month of current financial year registered an increase of 9.50 per cent as compared to the corresponding month of last year.

Sports goods worth US$ 32.95 million were exported during the month of July 2014 as compared to US$ 30.09 million of same month of last financial year, said the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The export of sports goods were recorded at US$ 33.8 million in month of June 2014 which were registered at US$ 7.47 million during the same month of last financial year, the data revealed.

During the period under review, about 385 dozens of footballs worth US$ 17.52 million exported which were up by 46.17 per cent as compared to the exports of 255 dozens valuing US$ 11.99 million exported in same period of last year.

Meanwhile, the export of gloves increased by 5.92 per cent during the first month of current financial year as country fetched US$ 11.17 million by exporting about 212 thousand dozen of gloves from the country. In July 2013, the country was able to export 313 thousand dozens of gloves valuing US$ 10.55 million, the data revealed.

The other products which showed positive growth in their exports during the month of July included knitwear, bedwear and towels by 21.66 per cent, 14.54 per cent and 7 per cent respectively.

During the first month of current financial year, the country earned US$ 238.7 million by exporting the knitwear while US$ 195.8 million by exporting bedwear and US$ 64 million by exporting the towels.
