An Anti Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Thursday sentenced two men to life imprisonment in a case of kidnapping for ransom.
The accused, Mohammad Anwar and Ahsan Ali, were found guilty of abducting one Nisar Ahmed Soomro on November 26, 2011, and demanding ransom for his safe release.
The judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court-II pronounced the verdict after recording evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.
According to prosecution, Nisar Ahmed Soomro was going to visit his friend in jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth Police Station when he was intercepted and abducted by the accused.
The complainant reported the matter to police and the accused were arrested during an encounter conducted by police on November 30, 2011.
The case FIR No 726/2011 was registered under Section 365-A (kidnapping for extorting property) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Sohrab Goth police station.
