Philanthropists, industrialists and traders met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday and presented cheques for Rs 30 million towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the IDPs of North Waziristan.
Cheques worth Rs 11.8 million were presented on behalf of assembly members of Gujrat, overseas Pakistanis and traders while industrialists, philanthropists and different persons of Lahore gave Rs 10.5 million and traders and industrialists of Multan presented Rs 4.5 million.
Member Provincial Assembly from DG Khan Syed Abdul Aleem gave Rs 1.2 million, MPA Bao Akhtar Ali Rs 0.8 million, MPA Chaudhry Shabbir Ahmed Rs 0.5 million, MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Rs 1.5 million, overseas Pakistanis Rs 6.7 million, Petrol Pumps Association President Chaudhry Sajid Masood Rs 1 million, Atif Jami Grand City Rs 0.5 million, industrialist Iftikhar Haider Rs 0.5 million and Medical Stores Association Gujrat presented Rs 0.5 million.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif commended the spirit of help and assistance of the donors towards the distressed people of North Waziristan. He said that on his appeal well-to-do persons of different walks of life are donating generously for the help and rehabilitation of the displaced families.
Shahbaz directed Board of Revenue senior member to immediately distribute second instalment of cash assistance among the displaced persons. He said that rehabilitation of affectees is a collective responsibility and it is time to stand by the IDPs.
